Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act Worker Protections

Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act, its Regulations, and its (almost 600 page) Code (and the similar federal legislation) set out broad rules for workplaces that are intended to protect the health and safety of workers.

It is important that employers are aware of the sometimes obscure and confusing details of the legislation to make sure they are complying with the law. Safety breaches, whether intentional or not, can result in significant penalties including large fines and jail time.
