11 May Estate Law Breakfast Seminar: Estate Planning and Caring for Aging Parents or Dependant Adults
Estate Law Breakfast Seminar
Estate Planning and Caring for Aging Parents or Dependant Adults
We invite you and your guest(s) to join Carbert Waite LLP on May 24 as two of our estate litigation lawyers, Michael Waite and Eleanor Carlson, discuss the importance of personal estate planning as well as the various resources available when caring for aging adults and dependent adult children.
Estate planning may not necessarily be at the top of your to-do list. However, proper preparation will not only set your mind at ease that your estate will be divided as you wish, but will also make the process simpler for your loved ones.
It is also likely you or someone you know will be required to care for an aging parent or dependant adult. Even if these challenges don’t touch you personally, it is likely that at some point you will be called upon, whether in a personal capacity or a professional one, to support a friend, colleague or client dealing with these issues. This presentation will give you various tools to navigate these challenging situations.
Whether you have a personal interest or wish to be better prepared to support your co-workers or clients, our presentation will provide practical information and useful tips.
Issues that will be covered include:
- Proactive estate planning, including things to consider when making a will, personal directive and enduring power of attorney.
- When to consider updating your estate documents.
- Tools available in the Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act.
- Caring for aging parents including assisting with medical decisions and living arrangements.
- Caring for dependent adults with disabilities.
