Teresa obtained her LL.B. in 1997 and completed her articles at the Court of Queen’s Bench in Regina. Since then, she has worked in both private practice as well as in-house for the Alberta Securities Commission, Alberta Health Services and the Calgary Police Service. Teresa joined Carbert Waite LLP as a senior associate in 2012.
Teresa’s primary areas of practice are health law and employment law. During her time spent working for Alberta Health Services, Teresa managed the litigation group as well as provided advice in relation to many areas of health law (including defense of medical negligence claims, consent to treatment, public health issues, fatality inquiries, regulatory investigations and health information and privacy issues).
During her employment with the Calgary Police Service, Teresa practiced primarily in the areas of labour and employment law, advising on a wide range of matters (workplace investigations, terminations, arbitrations, collective bargaining, harassment, accommodation, human rights, workplace policies and privacy).
Teresa’s experience in both health law and employment law while working for large public employers, combined with her private practice litigation background, gives her a unique perspective in assisting and advising clients in these areas.
