Biography

Prior to and during the course of attending University, Brad was involved in the residential construction industry. After obtaining his law degree in 1989, Brad articled and practiced with Code Hunter Wittmann. In 1998 he joined the litigation team at Donahue Wells as a partner. In 2010, Brad joined Carbert Waite LLP and is a partner.

Brad has extensive experience as a litigator in a number of areas with an emphasis on insurance defence and commercial litigation. Brad has advised both Insurers and Insureds on their rights and obligations in numerous first and third party claims, subrogated claims and bad faith claims.

Brad’s general litigation experience includes construction litigation, commercial landlord and tenant, health law defence work, product liability, shareholders disputes, and personal injury.

Brad has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta and various administrative tribunals including the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada and the Licence & Community Standards Appeal Board.

During the course of his career, Brad has participated in numerous Judicial Dispute Resolutions and private mediations and recognizes the value of pursuing alternative methods of dispute resolution.

After more than 30 years of practice representing both Plaintiffs and Defendants in a wide variety of matters and participating in many private mediations and Judicial Dispute Resolutions, Brad has now completed mediation training at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution through Pepperdine University and is also acting as a mediator.

Brad has co-authored papers on insurance and evidentiary matters. He has coached soccer at the community level for many years and has served on the Board of Trustees at Chinook Winds Adventist Academy.
