Biography

Bernard is a foreign-trained lawyer from the Philippines. He joined Carbert Waite LLP as an Articling Student in October 2023 after obtaining his Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee of Accreditation. Bernard completed his education at the University of City of Manila where he also attended law school.

Bernard has a legal career spanning 17 years abroad in the areas of civil and commercial litigation, family law, and criminal defence. He is also a trained arbitrator and has represented clients in JDR proceedings. His experience extends to serving as in-house counsel for corporations across diverse sectors, including international logistics, energy, manufacturing, the gaming industry, and non-profit organizations.

Since relocating to Canada, Bernard has demonstrated a strong commitment to community involvement by volunteering for organizations like Centre for Newcomers (CFN) and Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS). He now volunteers with the Pro Bono Law Alberta (PBLA), where he provides brief legal assistance to self represented litigants.

Bernard enjoys cooking and traveling with his family.
